Troubleshooting
Why a feature may be missing
A feature can be locked by your plan, unavailable on your platform, hidden by your organization, still rolling out, or unavailable in your current lesson or student view.
What the screen may be telling you
| What you see | Likely reason | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A lock or Upgrade choice | Your current plan does not include it | Compare plans before upgrading |
| Not available on this platform | Your Cody platform does not offer it | Ask your platform or organization contact |
| The choice is greyed out | It cannot be used in the current lesson or student view | Change the selected lesson or student |
| The choice is completely missing | Your organization may hide it, or it may still be rolling out | Compare with a colleague and ask support |
| A colleague sees it but you do not | You may be in a different organization, role, plan, or rollout group | Compare account details, not only screenshots |
The exact appearance can vary. A locked tile, missing menu item, and error message do not always come from the same kind of restriction.
Check the lesson or student you selected
Some choices need a particular starting point.
For example:
- Word list must be created from a lesson. It is unavailable in Student mode.
- Level Existing Passage also needs a lesson.
- All creation tiles stay unavailable until you choose a lesson or student.
If a tile is greyed out, look at the selector at the top of Create before checking your plan.
Check your plan
The Free plan does not include these paid feature groups after the trial ends:
- AI Assistant;
- Lesson Plans;
- Worksheets;
- Packets;
- Word Lists; and
- Reader’s Theater.
If your screen shows a lock or asks you to upgrade, compare the plans. A paid plan currently includes these groups, but the platform and organization checks below still apply.
See Compare plans and prices for current plan details.
Check your platform and organization
A school, tutoring center, or Cody-powered partner platform can offer only a selected set of features. Your organization can also withhold a feature that would otherwise be available.
An organization can take a feature away, but it cannot add a paid feature that the plan does not include. Upgrading does not override a feature that the platform itself does not offer.
Ask an owner or administrator:
- Is this feature offered on our platform?
- Is it turned on for our organization?
- Am I in the correct organization and role?
A feature may still be rolling out
New features are sometimes enabled gradually. During a rollout, one account may see a choice before another account does.
This can also explain why a help article or screenshot does not match your screen. It does not automatically mean that either account is broken.
If two colleagues are in the same organization, have the same role and plan, and still see different screens after refreshing, contact support. Include the name of the missing feature and the page where you expected to see it.
Still stuck? If something is broken rather than confusing, tell us what happened and we will look into it.
